5 on a long-awaited Friday!!!

It's been a busy week with a few poor nights of sleep, but I guess that's my body just prepping for April! lol. I am so happy to see Friday :) I even noticed this morning that there seems to be a bit of spring in everyone's step. It's not super warm out, but it feels better than it has. Brian said this morning that he feels more rested and like himself than he has in weeks (I'm not really sure why he feels this way but good for him!) haha. I'm joining the usual Friday link-ups today here and here.

And here's a picture of Molly and puppy from this week to get things started ;)

ONE

I LOVED the Veronica Mars movie. If you haven't heard about how it was funded, check it out here...it was all through a Kickstarter campaign that was completely fan-supported. I am not under any illusion that the movie was award winning or anything like that, but it tied up a lot of loose ends from the show, it made me laugh, and I loved seeing all the characters again. It's a fun TV series that I could watch again and still enjoy. I also love the strong female lead and Kristen Bell totally fits the role of Veronica Mars to a T. There were also some funny cameos including Dax Shepard (Kristen Bell's IRL husband), and James Franco as himself. I am definitely going to watch the whole series again someday and the movie too - it was available for download on the day it came out in theatres!!

PS - Overall, I was happy with the ending, but I don't want to add any spoilers here!

We had planned to see Divergent this weekend in theatres, but I think we're going to let that go and just see it sometime after the baby is born. No huge rush...loved the book, looking forward to the movie, but just not up for another "opening weekend" movie event.

TWO

If you've never heard of PinterestFail, you are missing out. Basically, people post pictures of things that they pinned and they try themselves. Usually their version will say "Nailed it!" but it looks completely different, or very funny. This one here is a favourite of mine, hahaha. I've had this experience before myself...and I think here is my own Pinterest fail from this week:

Left is from Pinterest, right is two of our best attempts

Here are a few of the other shots that Brian (engineer, not photographer <3) captured of Molly and me and the baby:

Haha.  A few of them are a bit creepy and weird angles, and these have all been a bit edited, but overall, you get the gist. I don't know why I decided to take these after one of the longest workdays of my life...but I just wanted to get them before the baby arrives!! And Molly is pretty photogenic ;)

THREE

It's Burger Week in Halifax so 50 restaurants are selling burgers for $5 or more and some of the proceeds go to Feed Nova Scotia. So a few co-workers and I are getting burgers for lunch today...yum! Can't wait!

FOUR

I can't believe that we will have a new little life in this world in 3 weeks or less (they are letting me go about 1 week overdue MAX). I am so excited, a little bit anxious, but mostly very, very excited. The funny thing is that I am trying to keep our house clean "in case" I go into labour unexpectedly, but it is next to impossible with a little 2 year old on the loose!!! I guess I'll just have to do some cleaning when we come home from the hospital - or leave it to my mom when she visits in April ;)

Not the best selfie but this is today :)

I'm also bouncing on the exercise ball as much as possible, at work and at home...so let's move things along that way!! ;)

FIVE

Can't wait for the weekend...ours is going to include a playdate with Molly's future St FX boyfriend, a housewarming party tonight for an hour or so, watching Frozen and having popcorn with my little munchkin (we'll see if she lasts the whole movie at home), final hospital bag packing and some R&R!! :) One more week of work!!

Have a great weekend, everyone!!!

Random 5 on Friday

ONE.

My baby girl is doing much better today after a bit of a rough week. Sick toddlers are NO fun, let me tell you. The only good thing is that I get a few more cuddles ;) I was also very grateful that I have *one* sick kid, and not two, yet.

TWO.

VERONICA MARS movie tonight!! I can't wait! I really thought more people knew about this show and were excited for the movie, but it turns out that it is a bit of an anomaly. Haha. I don't care...I am super excited! Team Logan! This also counts as one of my last "girl's nights out"s until after the baby comes - which will be great! I'm going with a good friend and her sister and we're doing supper first! The only tiny downside is that I won't get to see Molly until tomorrow since she'll be asleep when I get home...but I'm sure Daddy can handle supper and bedtime on his own ;).

THREE.

Three fun links to check out if you're browsing around this week:

16 Things you need to do to live life without regrets (relates a bit to my Wednesday post)

Disney Princesses on Tinder (Tinder isn't really a big thing around here, that I know of, but this still made me LOL)

26 Ingenious Ideas for your Home - love some of these - especially the hanging plants because we have a LOT of plants!!

FOUR.

Yesterday, since Brian was home with sick Molly, he made supper (yum)! I stopped by the grocery store before coming home from work and picked up a little bag of Mini Eggs as a treat for him since he had a long day (lol)...he finished them all in less than 5 minutes after Molly went to bed. We also finished House of Cards and reviewed our taxes and found out we are getting WAY more back than we originally thought - bonus!!!

FIVE.

Molly says "I love you too" now when we say "love you!" to her. She has said this in the past when coached to do so (haha), but when she says it back without prompting, it totally warms my heart (and simultaneously makes me want to cry - again, with the hormones! haha). I love the age that she is at now...she has also started asking me why the baby isn't coming yet, and when it is coming. I can't wait to watch her as a big sister. :)

I Hear the Bells by Mike Doughty on Grooveshark
In honour of it being Veronica Mars day, my song today to link up with Whitney is from the "Epic Love" scene in Season 2 (seen below). I'll be talking about the movie a bit on Monday, and also sharing all of my favourite Irish music in honour of St. Patrick's Day (since I can't celebrate it with a green beer this year!).

Linking up here and here today.
Happy weekend, friends :)

14 Things I'm looking forward to in 2014.

Happy new year!!!!

I do have parts of a Christmas recap typed up, but I have been wanting to post this forever as a start to the new year. 14 is my favourite number (I'm so creative - I was born on Aug. 14), so I am pretty excited about the year 2014 which is likely the only 14 year I will see in this lifetime! That being said, there are a lot of things that I'm really looking forward to in this upcoming year.

1) Giving birth to our second child/not being pregnant anymore (this one is a given)
2) The Veronica Mars movie (can't wait, but Brian won't come and see it with me...any takers?)
3) Divergent: the movie (I can probably talk Brian into seeing this one with me because he likes The Hunger Games)
4) Being off work with 2 children for a year (will be nice in some ways and likely overwhelming at first)
5) Watching the hubby turn 30 (he is freaking out about it but I think it will be fun)
6) Celebrating my sister's graduation from med school and her husband from law school (and hopefully watching them move to NS!)
7) Seeing my parents and brother in the summer (overjoyed!)
8) Having a raspberry beer (mmmmmmm)
9) Working on my blog (including a blog design and some weekly posts)
10) Participating in a book club: either Bonnie's or Laura's or both!
11) Running a 10K in the fall (this is a goal!) and losing the baby weight.
12) Enrolling Molly in soccer in the summer (Can't wait to watch her play)
13) Reconnecting with friends and family who have or will be moving closer to us
14) Molly's first concert, thanks to Nanny and Papa (a Christmas gift) - Raffi!!

And a bonus one...I am going to be keeping a VERY brief 5 year journal. I saw a book for it at Chapters before Christmas but I will be following the prompts from this site. It is only a sentence or two a day, but you can compare over the 5 years and I think it will be really interesting to see my responses over the next 5 years of changes!!!

Hope 2014 brings joy to everyone!

5 on Friday November 1!!! (link-up)

Hi everyone! Happy Halloween candy hangover day! I can't believe it is already November. Time is flying by these days...soon it will be Christmas! In 53 days, actually! ;) I'm linking up with Darci and her buddies (each word is a link to the blog hosts) for 5 on Friday today!!

1)   We have some exciting news in our house that I haven’t shared yet on here…Baby # 2 is coming into our lives in a mere 153(ish) days!!! I am 18 weeks along now (due Apr 3/2014) and feeling (mostly) great (more on that in a later post). We found out on the same day that I was laid off in July, so it was bittersweet at that particular moment, but we are overjoyed to be adding to our family and Molly can’t wait to be a big sister!!! We are planning to share the news with the Facebook world this weekend!! (haha)

Here are some cute little announcements I found that I might use for inspiration sometime even though most people in our lives know already:
All images via Google here, here, here and here.
2)      My little sheep had a great time trick-or-treating, but we didn’t really make it around our neighbourhood much. We were visiting my in-laws and a couple of friends which required driving and taking on/off her costume, so by the time we were ready to hit up the neighbours’ houses, she was worn out and on a sugar high. So 5 hours worth of costume making for about 1 hour of fun and photos? Not bad for a 2 year old, I guess!! The funniest thing she did this year was instead of saying "trick or treat", she would just say "treat"...she knows what she wants!!!

3)      I got back into yoga a bit this week in an effort to stretch out sore muscles and there is a plethora of amazing prenatal yoga videos on Youtube!! I was delighted to find a few that I like so I can switch it up!

5)      I am BEYOND excited for the Veronica Mars movie coming out in 2014. I can’t wait!! They released an updated trailer this week, so if you happen to be a diehard fan like myself…check it out HERE!! I told hubby that we were going to go see it on opening night and he said “Umm…I’m not.” Haha. If you have never seen VM, you are missing out! I am totally on Team Logan (obviously) and I found it interesting that she is with Piz in this trailer, but apparently they haven't been together since college, they just recently met up again. Yes, I guess you could call me a Marshmallow.
