14 Books that I'd LOVE to see become movies

Like most readers, I have a bit of a tough relationship with the idea of my favourite books being made into movies. I find I always, always enjoy the movie infinitely more if I haven't read the book in awhile. This is one reason why I didn't re-read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society this spring as I had planned to. The movie comes out on Netflix THIS WEEKEND when I will be at a 150+ person family reunion (but I will for sure be catching it on my birthday next week when we're in an Airbnb relaxing).

This got me thinking about which other books I think would translate well into movies. Here are 14 of them!

1) The Royal We
2) Penny Reid's Knitting in the City series (this would be great as a TV show/mini-series
3) Beartown I doubt the movie would do this book justice, but I would love to expose my husband to this story!
4) What Alice Forgot - my favourite of Liane Moriarty's - I think this would make a great movie!!!
5) The rest of Louise Penny's series
6) Anything you can Do although truthfully I feel that most of R.S. Grey's novels would be wonderful romantic comedies!
7) The Dry
8) Happiness for Beginners
9) The Lunar Chronicles - PLEEEEASE
10) When Dimple Met Rishi
11) The Duke and I or any of Julia Quinn's series (people love period pieces!) I would also settle for Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson
12) Salt to the Sea
13) The Girl Before
14) The Nightingale - I'd cry my eyes out watching this movie adaptation...

Do you see any here that you'd agree with? Or any that have already been optioned (that would be the best news ever!)

Honorable mentions: Roomies by Christina Lauren & The Hating Game by Sally Thorne - BOTH OF WHICH ARE GOING TO BECOME MOVIES!!! Can't wait.

We're off on vacation today and it feels like the summer has absolutely flown right by. We are spending 2 days at a resort in Cape Breton with my huge extended family, and then taking the ferry over to PEI to hang out with Anne of Green Gables, explore some beautiful beaches, and celebrate my birthday :) I'll have a post up on Tuesday for SUYB though!! Have a great weekend!!!

Lists of 5 Things

This year for Christmas, I told Brian about a few gifts that I really wanted and most of them were "necessities" like maternity clothes, leather gloves (I had NO gloves and we live in Canada!), slippers (our floors are cold)...etc. etc. He did an awesome job of rounding up the items from my links to the stores, and all was good. One of the things I mentioned on my list was a day planner/agenda, and he got a bit creative with it and gave me this one:

You can buy one here!
At first, I was unsure about it...but now I actually love it. The only thing I don't love about it is that it has no month-at-a-glance view. Overall, though, it's been invaluable so far keeping track of blog posts and ideas, writing down LISTS as prompted (which I love) and tracking appointments. I love it. My work life isn't busy enough to require a day planner, and I manage it fine with Outlook & my e-mail, so this planner has worked for me so far. Brian got it for me because he knows that I love to make lists :)

That being said...here is a fun post I saw ages ago with a lot of little lists!! Feel free to borrow it or even add your own 5 things in there somewhere!

Five Things I Have a Passion For:

(1) My Family - Every single member, immediate family, extended family, in-laws...I am so blessed to have wonderfully supportive family members who mostly get along.
(2) Music - I love listening to most types of music, but I also love to play - fiddle, piano and French horn. We also love to have dance parties around our house :)
(3) Research and Knowledge - I love to know why things happen, and I love Google because you can find the answer to any question you might have about anything. Based on my educational background, I also believe that research moves the world forward.

(4) Friends - Life would be nothing without friends to share it with, and we have some of the best friends around.
(5) Words - I love to read and write. I love getting lost inside a book. I love discovering new blogs or fun articles to read. I used to love writing letters and e-mails to friends.

The Boys Behind the Blog link-up!!

This is my first time participating in this link up because Brian does NOT like answering questions and does not necessarily see the point of participating in an activity like this. However...he does love movies, so I figured I could get him on board this time (we'll see about the future, but it's not looking good). He is a man of few words (sometimes), so his answers are pretty brief, but I also inserted my own thoughts about what he'd answer if he thought about it more. Haha! Here I am with the boy behind the blog all dressed up at his work Christmas party!! ;)

1. What is your favourite movie of 2013?
Hunger Games

(I know for a fact he actually means "Catching Fire" since we just saw it in theaters a few weeks ago and he loved it - he just calls it Hunger Games 2).

2. What is your all-time favourite movie quote?
"What if I can't find her?"
"That's easy. She's standing right next to you."

(This is from The Bourne Supremacy...Brian has watched this series about 5489 times so this doesn't surprise me but I thought he would have chosen "Spartans! Spartans! Ready your breakfast and eat hearty, for tonight we dine in hell!" from 300, which he has previously quoted at random times in the middle of conversations...).

3. What is your favourite type of movie (action, comedy, scary etc)?
Action/Horror

(Which is, coincidentally, my least favourite type of movie. LOL I actually don't mind action movies, but horror movies are NOT my thing so he watches these ones alone!!).

4. What is your new year's resolution?
To be a healthier person

(So far, he's doing a great job!!).

5. Finish the sentence. This year I will...
eat better.

(I think he was still in the same mindset as the previous question - and like I said, a man of few words!).
