Favourite Things Link Up

Happy Monday!!

We had a wonderful and relaxing weekend, with beautiful weather! We were able to get outside for a nice walk on Sunday afternoon, and it was really good for the soul after all the snow and cold we've had lately. We also got caught up with some family and friends, which was nice, and I got a bit of organizing done in the baby's room. Brian watched the Superbowl last night, but I only made it to half-time before it was time for bed. It was pretty clear at that point who was going to win anyway. We're not huge NFL fans in our house, but Brian was going for Denver after picking them in his football pool at work, so he was disappointed.

I always thought groundhogs were a bit cuter...haha
Shubenacadie Sam, our Nova Scotia groundhog, also predicted an EARLY SPRING yesterday, so that's kind of exciting (but I'm not sure if I trust him! ;)). I had a friend on Facebook who was asking about the whole point of Groundhog Day since we all know that Spring comes on March 20 every year. I had to laugh because obviously we aren't relying on the groundhog to tell us what's going to happen, but it is a funny little event in February. We were going to take Molly out to visit Shubenacadie Sam yesterday since they had a huge event going on all day in the wildlife park, but it's almost an hour away and we just needed to hang out at home instead.

Beauty and the Greek
Today I wanted to share a few of my "favourite things" lately and link up with Beauty and the Greek who shares her favourite things every month HERE. Here are a few things that I'm loving lately!!

1) How I Met Your Mother - boy am I glad I stuck with Season 9, as in, we watched about 10 episodes over the weekend and we are all caught up to tonight's episode on TV. I love the Mother!! Every episode that has featured her prominently has also made me a bit teary-eyed, which Brian finds hilarious...but she is just so sweet! And the most recent episode with her boyfriend dying...I mean, that was sad stuff!! I am sure there are more tears to come...haha. I also loved the episode about asking Barney questions that he could only answer with the truth. I can't WAIT for Ted and the mother to "meet" in present day! By the way, do we know the Mother's name yet??

I'm sure I'm not the only one who got teary-eyed at this moment!!
2) Vector and Cheerios...as I mentioned last week, I am definitely on a huge cereal kick after not eating it much for years. I guess we'll chalk it up to a pregnancy craving?? ;) I also love that Molly calls Cheerios "Cheeewweeeweeos" with an extra syllable thrown in there.

Yum YUM
3) Simple Facial Wash. I got a sample of this in a mommy-to-be bag from Sobeys, and I loved the way it made my face feel. It's not often that I find a facial wash I like and I don't often change it up from Oil of Olay, but I'm liking this for now so we'll see how it goes! I got mine at Walmart here in Canada, and I'm not even sure if it's available in the States but it's good stuff!

4) Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion - because I live in Canada and it's the winter.

5) U2's new song that was available for download on iTunes last night until midnight tonight. LOVE it. :)

6) Water infused with cucumber, mint and lemon. (See benefits HERE). This is supposed to be a bit of a detox drink, and I am obviously not in weight-loss mode since I am growing a person, but I drank this all weekend for the first time in months and felt SO refreshed and a lot less bloated. I also had significantly less heartburn and indigestion, so I am going to stick with it for now. It is delicious :)

If you put it in a water bottle, make sure you wash the water bottle out frequently :)
I think that's it for today!! Tomorrow's tot talk is about VBACs, but hopefully not TMI!! I am also working on a few design aspects of the blog this week. I made a lot of progress over the weekend, but got a bit stuck so I'm still working on it slowly. I'll share the tutorials I used when I'm all done!

Off to tackle my Monday now. xoxo

5 on the 4th Friday of the month :)

It's time for everyone's favourite link-up...including me!! Check out all the other 5 on Friday posts over at Darci, April, Christina or Natasha's blogs today.

This was a bit of a long week, and kind of strange too because I worked from home on Wednesday  due to SEVERE snow in the city and got a bit confused with which day it is (yesterday felt like Monday). So the fact that today is actually Friday when it feels like Tuesday is pretty great!!

{ONE}

We have an amazing store close by called Gateway Meat Market. It (obviously) sells a lot of meat at EXTREMELY good prices and locally grown, but they also have a fair amount of produce and other goodies. You can’t get everything you need there, but you can get a lot of fresh food way cheaper than Sobeys or Superstore! Their prices are unbeatable and they do “flash sales” in which something is extremely cheap for a day or two until they run out of supply. I almost always take advantage of the sales to stock up on some veggies, and this week, the sale was BANANAS 17cents/lb…which, as you know, is amazing. Bananas here are usually 79-89 cents/lb. I bought a bunch and I’m going to wait for them to ripen and then peel and freeze them for smoothies (amazing way to use up bananas!)
Here’s the 24 bananas I got yesterday for $1.50 (major WIN! – PS: My husband rolls his eyes every time I come home with items like this, haha – he loves sales but thinks this is too many bananas ;))

{TWO}

I get to see my sweet sister tonight as she is in Halifax for residency interviews. Molly loooooves her auntie so much and we have been lucky to see her a few times lately (we usually only see her 1-2 times a year since she lives in Ontario). The next time I see her after tonight, we will have a new baby and she will be a doctor!! Hard to believe!!

{THREE}

As I’ve mentioned before, I am keeping a 5-year journal similar to this one on Amazon but following prompts from this site and writing it myself. Today’s prompt is “What are you looking for from life?”, which is a bit of a loaded question (haha), but it has really gotten me thinking about where I’m headed in the future career-wise (that’s a whole other post) and what things are important to me. I think reflecting on questions like this every once in awhile a good way to keep on track goal-wise is and a good way to remind myself that “the world is my oyster”. J So far, I love the simplicity of the journal prompts – only a sentence or two each day but it will be great to look back on!

I’m starting to get really excited for the Olympics! I can’t wait to see, in particular, how the men’s hockey team does (I am a huge Sidney Crosby fan but I think all of the players were good choices!) and I also love the figure skating/ice dance component. It'll be hard to watch it all because of the time difference, but hopefully we can catch a lot of the highlights and some events live on TV. Brian and I met right after the Vancouver Olympics in 2010, so when we were first talking, we were both really into the Olympics as a current event/ice-breaking topic...so I told him I'm so happy we've made it to the next Olympics! Here's to many more! ;)

{FIVE}

I love U2 and we had the opportunity to see them live a few years ago in Moncton when I was super-pregnant with Molly (her first concert and it was a good one!!). They are releasing a new song for download during the Superbowl next weekend, but I can't stop listening to this other new one from the Mandela movie soundtrack. So let's #backthatazzup this Friday with the queen of yoga pants :)

Happy Friday, everyone!!!
