Guest post and Finish the Sentence with Jake and Holly...

So.... here I am trying things out on Blogger. This is where I had my first ever blog (years ago!), and although Wordpress is okay, it seems like Blogger is a little bit more user-friendly for someone who doesn't have a lot of extra time to learn CSS or HTML. I'm going to be working on the design over here to make it my own though. Thoughts?!

I actually (YAY) have a guest post over at Chits & Giggles today. I wrote all about being a newlywed and shared some tricks of the trade (because as you know, 1 year of marriage makes me an expert, haha). Go check it out! Kristyn's blog is generally fun and she writes some really great stuff. She's currently planning her wedding and having a fun summer of travels!!

Here's my (belated) link up to Jake and Holly's Finish the Sentence post from yesterday:

If I had one extra hour in the day... I would definitely sleep. Not very creative, I know.

I wish my name... had a better definition in the dictionary. When I was about 12 (vulnerable age), I looked up "Heather" in the dictionary and it said "Scottish shrub". BOO!! It's actually a pretty pinkish purple flower, Websters!!

I think anything chevron is... nice enough but a bit overrated. It has definitely taken the fashion world by storm though, so kudos to it for that.

My last nightmare... was getting robbed in our house in the middle of the night and my husband attacking the robber with his baseball bat. This is a somewhat recurring dream...

Sometimes... life just isn't fair. Accepting that has made things a lot easier for me.

My last meal on earth would be... pizza, sushi, and some sort of chocolate dessert with a mug of beer or a glass of wine...

(from our favourite Halifax sushi restaurant, Sushi Nami)

I would much rather... be at the beach.

Mayonnaise... is not my thing...we use Miracle Whip if we need something for egg-salad sandwiches etc.

10 years ago, I didn't think... that I would be married with a darling daughter. It's perfect, though.

Selfishly... I wish that my parents and siblings could live in Halifax.

My favorite show on TV right now... not really watching much these days, but I'm hoping to catch up on Big Bang Theory this summer and I love Modern Family/How I met your Mother. Suits started last night too!!

And, George Zimmerman... is not getting anywhere near the same media attention up here in Canada...

Hope you all have a great weekend!! We are busy cleaning/organizing/prepping our house for my parents' arrival on July 30! Can't wait! We also have a sick toddler on our hands, so I hope she gets better soon!!

If you’re lost and alone or you’re sinking like a stone, carry on...

I’m going to do a link up today with Holly & Jake called Finish the Sentence:
button

Unlike my sibling(s) (that I love very much)... I eat eggs & love them. Neither of my siblings will go anywhere near eggs unless they are in cake.

My best friend says... “here’s your half of our best friend necklace for when we meet someday in the future!!” (I’m not sure if I have what you would call a “best friend” right now but I am on the hunt for one!)

People call me... the winner of this link up!

The best part of my day... pulling up in the driveway after work and Molly standing at the door waving at me and excited to see me

I really don't understand...people who are racist. Movies like 42 and Django Unchained really brought this home for me this year

I get really annoyed... when people can’t spell or use grammar. The occasional slip-up is acceptable, but learn the difference between there, their and they’re, and the difference between defiantly and definitely.

There's nothing like a... hot coffee on a cold day and a cold beer on a hot day

Lately, I can't get enough... of reading blogs. Totally addicted. Anyone want to apply to be my best friend?

One thing I am NOT is... overly girly. I try my best so that I can fit in, but I just don’t get some of the things that girls like to talk about. Maybe I’ll get girlier when I meet my aforementioned future best friend.

I spent too much money on... expensive local organic coffee...but it was worth it!! Delicious!

I want to learn.... to speak fluent French...would be very useful in Canada. Speaking of which, we saw the movie Ruby Sparks sometime this month on Netflix & I love how he writes that Ruby can speak fluent French and BAM! Voila! I wish it was this easy!

If I ever metJake in real life , I would... ask him if he thinks Ross and Rachel were really on a break? It broke my heart when they broke up, but Ross shouldn’t have done that!

I can't stop... this feeling...deep inside of me, (guy) you just don’t realize what you do to me...

Never have I ever... left the continent of North America

Reese Witherspoon... is apparently Illegally Blonde...haha! And maybe should have stayed with Ryan Phillippe. Not that it’s any of my business.

Now onto the bloggy news...

It’s been a pleasant little half-week in our Halifax world. #1 reason for this is the incredible weather we have been having! Lots of sunshine and blue skies! This makes for a happy toddler, a happy Mommy, and a normal Daddy. haha. kidding...he is happy too. However...this morning it is all foggy (like so foggy that you couldn’t see anything driving over the bridge) and it is supposed to rain off & on for the next 5 days. Ahhhh. Halifax weather 1, Heather 0. We’d better get our garden set up ASAP! Here’s a pic of Brian’s progress last weekend:

garden

We(he) are(is) currently growing some starter veggies indoors. It actually looks a bit like a grow-op in our basement but it is just veggies, I promise! Brian ordered seeds of “the world’s hottest peppers” from a website in the States and patiently waited about 10 days for them to arrive (sometimes checking the mail twice a day - he’s not anxious about mail at all). Along with the hot peppers, we are growing herbs (green onion, sweet basil, cilantro, parsley, stevia, oregano, mint) & vegetables (zucchini, carrots, tomatoes, beans, peas, cucumber). We are really excited about this endeavour in the new house!! Funny thing too - every morning, Brian says to Molly, “want to go check on the plants?” and she gets SO excited...so apparently she likes gardening too!

I got out for a 3.5 km run on Tuesday night, and I’m hoping to go again tonight unless it is raining (when I will do interval training instead). I did strength training in the morning yesterday because Molly woke up at 5 am. We’ve been eating AWESOME suppers this week too. Monday night: lean chicken burgers with green beans on the side. Tuesday night: chicken, sweet potato & asparagus. Wednesday night: delicious pork tenderloin from the Crazy Plates cookbook with roasted potatoes & asparagus again. Tonight: leftovers from all of these other meals!! Yum!!

With Journey 2 Wellness this week, we are doing Tabatas as our weekly challenge. I am loving these tabatas. They are a great, very quick little workout to fit in when you are bored (but they don’t take the place of a regular workout). What you do is pick an exercise (i.e. pushups), do it for 20 seconds, then rest for 10 seconds and repeat 8 times - which takes 4 minutes total. So obviously you could pick a wide range of exercises, or you could switch up the times...tabatas are pretty flexible...but so far, I have done walking lunges (Molly did these with me, lol), push ups (felt the burn pretty intensely at the end WOW), tricep dips, squats, and jumping jacks. I’m going to try it tonight with burpees & squat jumps. We’re supposed to try to get 10 in this week, so I’m doing okay so far!!

Today's song is from FUN, on the radio a lot, and pretty catchy. Go check it out if you haven't heard it before.
