This quote was in the back of my mind this week after I saw it a few days ago:
“October extinguished itself in a rush of howling winds and driving rain and November arrived, cold as frozen iron, with hard frosts every morning and icy drafts that bit at exposed hands and faces.” (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix).
I do have some favourites to share this week though, so let's jump into those!!
Favourite song:
If you've seen the movie Away We Go, you might be familiar with Alexi Murdoch's music. If you haven't seen the movie, you should check it out!! John Krasinki and Maya Rudolph. It's a cute indie movie!! This song is in the movie & I love it. Perfect chill music and makes you feel so cozy.
Favourite Netflix show:
We're starting to get pretty into Gotham. I am slowly learning to take Jim Gordon's character seriously after viewing him as Ryan from the OC for a few episodes ;)

Favourite Links:
- #NaNoReadMo.org and about NaNoReadMo over on Modern Mrs. Darcy (this is a lot more do-able for me than NaNoWriMo will ever be, but I can still respect those doing it!!)
- For those writing more this fall, here's a list of perfect songs to listen to while you write
- I loved these empathy cards!!
- Feeling impressed with our new Prime Minister so far when I read things like this
- Some great mental health resources on Jenn's blog this week...as a huge advocate for mental health (hello psychology degree), I am always looking for more resources!!
- Natural ways to soothe a cough - we have colds going around like crazy in our house this time of the year and these remedies are great for kids!!!
- This book looks interesting.

Your new prime minister rocks!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
Awww, thanks for the share! Do you have any idea if Winter is really going to be as long as it says on Goodreads? I'm kind of hoping so, but it seems surprising. I feel like most authors would split it into 2 if it got that much longer than the previous books in the series. (If it is 800+ pages AND she didn't split it into 2/delay the release date, I'm going to love Marissa Meyer even more.)
ReplyDeleteAlso I can't remember if I pre-ordered! I might accidentally buy it twice.
Deleteooh I love it! The week didn't feel too long for me, which I am very grateful for! The last few have! I've been meaning to watch Away We Go for AGES! Maybe I'll have to make it a goal for the end of the year! :) LOL that last comic!! So true!! The gandalf license plate is super funny too! :) XO -Alexandra
ReplyDeleteI love it! I had a succulent, but it died. :( I'm not very good with plants... haha I love the scarves... I'm so excited for cool weather, pretty layers, and cozy days and nights! I have not seen enough Wes Anderson movies! Seriously, I have been doing my own "film education" program. We've started with watching more classics and cult classics. We see plenty of the popular stuff, and we definitely like Indie movies... there are just SO many! :) XO -Alexandra
Simply Alexandra: My Favorite Things
I agree with everything Jenn said about Winter above! I really do hope it's that long. I think I am going to try and re-read the first 3 this weekend / next week so I can have Winter for the flight... It's only a 2 hour flight though, so maybe not. I just know if I start it on tuesday I will NOT be sleeping tuesday night. hahaa. i haven't pre-ordered mine yet but i WANT TO.
ReplyDeletelove that yoga video! i'll have to check out the reading month, because i'm definitely not writing!
