We have soccer three nights a week, which keeps us pretty busy, but the girls are loving it. Molly is definitely really improving despite not having the best coaching atmosphere, and Lucy is starting to really think seriously with the ball and she has 3 little friends on her team so she enjoys the socialization too. Me? I'd rather be a #soccermom than a #hockeymom :)
The girls also had another race at Victoria Park in Truro, which is about an hour away and it is an absolutely breathtaking park with a ton of hiking and waterfalls as well as a fantastic playground/splash pad and pool. The girls did well with their races on their own and then we hiked a bit before heading home. It was tons of fun and I can't wait to go back and explore a bit more without having the race to keep us busy for a couple of hours.
We went camping with my parents and my sister and her family which we thought might be pretty rainy, but it was good. We were just a few feet from the beach and the girls spent tons of time playing in the waves with Brian and my dad. I went in for a bit but it was pretty overcast the whole time we were there and I wasn't feeling a strong pull to swim in the 15 degree ocean. :) My kids also had a great time playing with their cousin and it was nice to have so much time together. I'm sure we'll do it again next year - we all managed to sleep well in the tent overall so that bodes well for our next camping adventure this month. :)
We bought a tandem bike so Molly can ride behind one of us until she gets a bit more confidence on her two-wheeler and it has been fun so far! Great to be able to get some exercise with a kid attached ;)
I saw friends a few times, we celebrated my mom's birthday, and I read a lot of books. I got out biking and running on my own a few times and did some yoga. It went by in a blur overall. We spent days at the lake and days at the beach and checked out the outdoor pool nearby. All in all, it was a fun month and I am already so excited for August because:
1) It's my birthday month!
2) My entire extended family will be together soon except for my brother and one cousin
3) Huge family reunion 150+ people next weekend at a resort in Cape Breton
4) Followed by a trip to PEI (home of Anne of Green Gables) for my birthday with the 4 of us
5) Going to see Anne and Gilbert which will be SO GOOD. Can't wait :)
6) LOBSTER in PEI :)
I haven't exactly been smashing some of my summer goals such as learning more French and blogging twice a week, but we've been busy getting out there and LIVING life :) If you're ever curious what I've been reading or doing, follow me on Goodreads or Instagram! :)
What's new with you?!
