Fall To-Be-Read Books (Top Ten Tuesday)

Last week, I jotted down a list of books that I really wanted to get to this fall, so this week's Top Ten Tuesday is a perfect topic for me! My own list has more than 10, but I'll share my favourites! I'm waiting for a few of them from the library, but I am hoping I'll get to all of these before Christmas :)

The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith aka J.K. Rowling
I read the first in this series and although it was a bit slow at the beginning, I was hooked by the end. Looking forward to following Strike's story in this one. There's a third in the series coming out this fall too, so maybe I'll get to that one before Christmas.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
I loved Fangirl and I can't wait to read this story about the fan fiction :) Comes out in October!!

Winter by Marissa Meyer
The much-anticipated finale to the Lunar Chronicles...comes out in November and I can't wait to see how it all ends. I'm listening to The Fairest right now, and it's an interesting perspective on Queen Levana.

The Hypnotist's Love Story by Liane Moriarty
This will be my second Liane Moriarty book, so I hope it lives up to how much I loved Big Little Lies!

Persuasion by Jane Austen
I can't believe I haven't read this yet, but I can't wait. I know the storyline (although I haven't seen the movie either!) and I think I will really enjoy it. I might listen to some of it on audiobook and read parts of it...we'll see how it goes.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
This book is recommended for fans of The Martian (even though it is not at all the same) - It seems like it will be a fast paced read.

Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson
I've heard nothing but good things about this regency book and I think it will tie in well to all of my Jane Austen reading over the next few months :)

I'm already partway through this short read and feeling so motivated to GET RID OF THINGS. Now if only I can get my husband on board?? ;)

At the Water's Edge by Sara Gruen
I loved Water for Elephants and I have heard this one isn't quite as good, but it's still worth a read.

My True Love Gave to Me  (Various authors/ short stories)
To read in November (or sooner - whenever the library gives it to me?) in anticipation of a wonderful holiday season!!!

  1. I'm pretty tempted to get Kondo's book but I think that I might already know most of what she discusses so I'm hesitant. Here's My TTT.

    1. Yeah, I'd heard a lot about it too and I'm still not 100% convinced, but her method does make sense!! Off to check out your list now!

  2. I love Rainbow Rowell!!! I read Attachments and I have Fangirl and Landline on my list to check out. Everyone has said such great things about the Tidying Up book and I feel like it is going to be a must read as well.

  3. Winter!!! I can't wait. I'm going to drop everything when that comes out. I loved The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, but I'm also struggling to get my husband on board. He got annoyed just the other day because I got rid of a storage bin that's been sitting (empty) under our bed for over a year. If we didn't find a purpose for it in over a year, I just don't think it was going to happen! Especially AFTER I went through the whole house, purging and organizing.

  7. I read The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up cover to cover back in the January and re-read several chapters as I implemented the program during an unexpected week off from work in February due to bad weather. While some of the things the author suggests seems a little goofy (like thanking your items for their service before discarding them), the book has really altered my mental relationship with stuff. I can more easily part with things now, even those with sentimental value. I'd be interested to hear of your experience after you read it and if you choose to put it in to practice. Happy reading to you!

  8. Wow, it looks like we like a lot of the same kinds of books. We should definitely be friends :) I'm also looking forward to WINTER and CARRY ON. I love Moriarty, although I haven't read THE HYPNOTIST'S LOVE STORY. BIG LITTLE LIES is my favorite of hers, but I've liked all the ones I've read. I finished AT THE WATER'S EDGE not long ago and really liked it. It's very atmospheric. I liked EDENBROOKE as well.

    Happy TTT!
