Frisbee and Five on Friday :)

I have decided, after some blog posting research this week (see here, here and here among other posts) that it will not be beneficial for me to use song titles for my blog post titles. This is because my titles will not be searchable if I just use random songs as titles instead of actual topics. However, I would like to incorporate songs into my blog posts, so I will still try make reference to a song lyric in each post. Today, I have a song called Molly Smiles (Jesse Spencer) in my head. I am constantly trying to get Brian to sing this song to Molly because it's written by a father to his daughter, Molly. Brian rolls his eyes every time I play this song, but honestly, it is SO sweet!! If you're wondering where you heard it before, it was in Uptown Girls with the late Brittany Murphy.

Molly smiles and she radiates the glow around her halo...

...if that's not a beautiful lyric, then I don't know what is :) (Disclaimer: I totally re-discovered this song after Googling Molly songs when she was about 6 months old).

It has been a busy but productive week over here in my corner of the universe. I have mostly eaten healthy, done okay for the workouts (can't wait for my first 5K in a couple of years which is this Sunday!), and made progress both at work and organization at home!! We have a relaxed weekend planned which is JUST WHAT WE NEED. It's our long weekend here in Canada next week and we're travelling a couple of hours away to visit my G-ma, so it will be nice to relax this weekend.

Here's my FIVE ON FRIDAY (3rd time linking up! Yay me!)

ONE

This week, I am trying extra hard to be grateful for things in my life. I am grateful for a beautiful toddler who has been in great cheer most of the week. I am grateful for her special hugs and kisses goodnight. It warms my heart when I walk in the door at the end of the day and almost 3 feet of beauty runs towards me exclaiming "mama!!!!"

I am also grateful for my amazing husband, and I really feel like I need to remind myself how lucky I am sometimes. It is easy to let the day-to-day stresses overcome me and find some of the faults in our days, but in general, I really think it will benefit me to see the good that we have in our lives and be grateful for it. He is not perfect, but I'm not either. No one is perfect, and it's important to try to remember that.

TWO

We have had mostly incredible weather this week for the start of summer. Sunshine and blue skies make me happy!

THREE

I can't stop thinking about Calgary which is currently in a flood warning. A lot of people living downtown have had to evacuate. I really hope everyone is okay, including my family and friends!! I also hope that the damage is minor!

FOUR

We had a double header for frisbee last night, and even though we lost both games (the first game was close though!), I feel like I made some good plays personally! Brian had fun too and it's nice to have an activity together :)

FIVE

So far, Inferno hasn't disappointed me! I know there is always some controversy over Dan Brown's books, but I usually just take them at their pure entertainment value and let's just say that when I was first exposed to The Da Vinci Code, I had it finished in about 12 hours front to back. haha.

TODAY, I am grateful for my health and my loving in-laws who are open to watching our child so that we can pursue recreational sports like frisbee.

What are you grateful for today?

Does anyone have any suggestions for summer books?

Anyone have fun plans for the weekend?

  1. I used to start my blog posts off with song lyrics, but I felt it took away from the posts. I still try to incorporate music into my blog as much as I can, but I definitely drift away from it.

  2. Yeah...I used to do it on an old blog, but I think my blog will flow a bit better if I just mention a song here and there when it seems appropriate! ;)

Thanks for reading my blog! I would love to hear what you think of this post! I reply to comments via e-mail unless you are a no-reply blogger, and if that is the case you can check out this post to fix it!!
